Zeth and Ged Kingsford: impressive musical careers
Zeth Townsend (guitar and vocals)
Born in London in 1974, he began writing songs in his early teens. This led to recording the first album ‘Early Songs’ in 2004, followed by ‘The Whole Thing’ in 2007 and ‘New Scenario’ in 2012. Zeth played extensively on the acoustic London circuit from the late ’90s to 2017 then he moved to Cornwall…to collaborate with Sven Atterton on bass, Ged Kingsford on drums and Producer Justin Bradley.
Ged (Gerald) Kingsford …(drums)
Born in Stockport in 1955, he played in local groups from aged15. He then moved to London aged 20 to join the avant-garde rock band Metabolist. He gained recognition with this band in the music press and on the John Peel radio show. He has worked for many bands as a drummer and percussionist over the years. He lived in the south of France where he played with performance artists, Romanian Gypsys and dancers from a New York dance group.
Ged returned to Cornwall where he played and recorded for various artists….which included a performance at the Minack theatre with Justin Bradley and later with the band Gravity. He performed pieces for percussion to celebrate the work of Barbara Hepworth in The Tate Gallery, St.Ives in 2006. He met Zeth Townsend in 2017 which resulted in the present collaboration.
