Theorbo Delights

A concert and interactive workshop from outstanding Dutch master of the instrument, Fred Jacobs.

Continuing our aim to provide heavenly music at down-to-earth prices, the first offering from Carrick Concerts for 2022 is exciting and distinct in content. Sure to appeal to both lovers of stringed instruments and the open-minded musically curious, Delights of the Theorbo, is a concert and workshop from the internationally renowned musician Fred Jacobs (Amsterdam).

The theorbo is a large lute-like instrument with an extended neck and extra bass strings commonly used as an accompaniment to 16th and 17th-century songs. Fred Jacobs will travel from Amsterdam with a programme of works by Jean Baptiste Lully (1632-1687), Kapsberger, Charles Hurel, and Estienne Le Moine.

This first Carrick Concert for 2022 will be held at the newly rebuilt Flushing Sailing Club with its drinks bar and gorgeous views.
Tickets are available online via www.CarrickConcerts.org or with cash from Flushing Village Shop and Mylor Stores. A seat at the concert costs £13 for adults and accompanying under 18s are free.

In addition, the concert in Flushing is preceded by a workshop (same venue, same day) at 3 pm. Places are available free to those holding a ticket for the evening performance but participants must pre-register by noon on Friday 11th March and any under 18s attending must be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. Fred Jacobs is keen that as many people as possible bring along their own instruments, especially if they have guitars or lutes.
