Music by Russell Pascoe, Mendelssohn & Brahms

Russell Pascoe’s innovative and inspirational “Secular Requiem”, first performed in 2013, was written specially for Three Spires Singers, who are joined for this concert by Truro Cathedral Choir. The work is truly distinctive and original, with a compilation of very moving poetic texts set to music that is accessible yet has great depth.

The programme also features Brahms’s wonderful “Alto Rhapsody” and two sections of his “German Requiem”, the beautifully melodic “Wie Lieblich sind deine Wohnungen” and “Ihr habt nun Traurigkeit”. There will also be the arresting overture from Mendelssohn’s oratorio “St Paul” and his “Hear my prayer”, with its iconic solo “O, for the wings of a dove”.

Outstanding international soloists are Mezzo Soprano Catherine Wyn-Rogers and Bass Baritone Paul Carey Jones. The Conductor is Christoper Gray.
