About this event
With guest reader Helen Musser.
Granite stones and monuments, rugged cliffs, windswept hills and moors, medieval fields and farms, summer visitors, all filling our minds with a deep sense of our beloved land of Kernow. A longing for times past and sincere hopes for the future play out in our lives while time ticks on. “Cornwall – a Sense of Place” will take you on a journey in music, words and images around this beautiful world at the end of the land.
Tir ha Tavas, meaning land and language in Cornish, is Dee & Dave Brotherton, both Bards of Gorsedh Kernow. They have performed at a wide variety of festivals and other events and their songs have been covered by other performers and groups. They have recorded three albums – “A Cornish Life” with Bagas Porthia, “Ogh Penndra Vyghan” (O Little Village) and “An Viaj” (The Journey).
Their multi disciplined and award-winning production ‘Towl Ros’ was featured on radio and television. They represented Cornwall at the International Pan Celtic Festival in Ireland alongside poets, musicians, singers and dancers from all the Celtic nations each performing in their respective native language.
In complete contrast they were asked to provide music and appear in a C-Beebies show as part of “Fred and Pete’s Treasure Tales (episode 20) ‘The Musical Bag’.
They are looking forward to performing their new show ‘Cornwall – a Sense of Place’ at St Ives Arts Club as part of St Ives September Festival 2025.
