About this event
Friends in music and life, Nuala Honan & Stevie Toddler hit the road for a double-bill to celebrate each of their killer 4-piece art-pop and rock ensembles. With hugely dynamic arrangements and moments of explosive instrumentals, both artists skirt familiar genres and stories of human existence in unique and vibrant ways.
Bristol-based bassist /singer /songwriter Stevie Toddler creates utterly unique soundworlds, drawing from a whole range of genres – pop, jazz and prog-rock– and a broad palette of artists – Dirty Projectors, Of Montreal and Dusty Springfield amongst many others. Boasting fans such as Jamie Callum (Radio 2) and Guy Garvey (Radio 6), Toddler’s songwriting is full of surprises and her live band features some of Bristol’s finest. Her most recent album ‘Last Time Forever’, released summer 2024 is the next step in a career that has seen Stevie playing at major festivals (Fusion (Germany), Glastonbury, Shambala) and supporting artists such as Nick Mulvey (New Mythology tour) and Alabaster Deplume.
Originally from rural outback Australia, Nuala Honan is a romantic storyteller, with an astonishing voice and a gift for timeless songwriting. Scaling new heights of noise and pop production, the Bristol-based songwriter is driven by post-punk rawness, yet still lets fly with moments of audacious, operatic singing over the tumultuous drums. With a reputation for highly charged live sets, Honan leads a killer band in a pop-drama, exploring the strength in vulnerability and human connection.
