About this event
The presentation will feature works on paper and prints from two bodies of work inspired by the rugged Cornish landscape where Allen grew up.
INTERSTELLAR LANDSCAPES is an abstract look at the coastline and its raw beauty—where land, sea, and sky come together. Allen uses a cyanotype process and allows the environment to come in contact with the print. This, as well as the weather and seasons, all have an influence, resulting in a unique representation of the landscape at the time the work was produced.
Also on view is the second body of work, PHOTONS, a study on light and the enigmatic particle. These prints are traditional photographs made without a camera, distilling the photographic process down to its essential purpose, to capture light freezing for a moment in time. We are left with an imprint of light on paper, a memory of its brief existence.
