About this event
Plant lovers, curious souls and canine companions are warmly invited to explore the gardens at Trevince as the promise of spring turns to the bloom of summer.
Trevince has been in the same family since medieval times and the gardens continue to evolve under the guardianship of the latest generation who garden for food, fun and the future to create a new horticultural legacy.
Between 27 March and 27 September, a programme of regular talks and demonstrations by horticultural experts will also be offered.
Dr Morgan Morrison is a pollinator conservation researcher at the University of Exeter, focused on understanding and conserving pollinating insects.
Her work explores the impacts of emerging diseases and pesticides on pollinator species and, more recently, the unique potential of urban areas and gardens to support conservation.
Dr Morrison’s research often centres on the role people can play in protecting pollinators through citizen-intervention and monitoring.
A recent project transformed gardens in the Cornish village of Constantine into living artworks for pollinator conservation, while helping residents to identify and monitor species.
At Trevince, Dr Morrison will lead a talk and, weather permitting, a hands-on session to introduce common pollinator groups and key identification features. This workshop aims to build confidence in recognising different species and empower you to support biodiversity in your gardens.
