About this event
Unschool Art – Creative Art & Making for Home Ed Children (Ages 9+)
This is a trial block of 4 weeks starting on Thursday 12th March at 10am – 1pm (full list of dates below).
Unschool Art is a relaxed, creative session for home educated children who want time, space, and freedom to make things in their own way. Inspired by the unschooling ideas of John Holt, these sessions aren’t about being taught what to do — they’re about following curiosity with guidance and tips where required.
Each week I’ll offer an art or making activity as a starting point, and children can choose to do that, or they are also welcome to take them wherever their own interests lead. They might stick with the idea, change it completely, or use it as a springboard into something unexpected — and that’s the point. I’m there as a facilitator and guide: to provide materials, encouragement, gentle structure, and support when it’s needed — and to step back when it’s not.
If the trial sessions go well, Unschool Art will become a regular Thursday morning group running in 4 or 5 week blocks throughout the year and covering drawing, painting, printmaking and clay among MANY other things!
