About this event
This course invites you to spend a day at our market garden learning about what we do and how we do it. Whether you can make it for one of our seasonal day courses or would like to track the full year by attending a day in each season, we aim to give you the knowledge and confidence to get started growing seasonal produce. £95pp – 10:30am – 4:00pm. Includes refreshments and a seasonal lunch.
Neetfield is a ½ acre productive market garden that provides 40 households in Bude with a weekly veg bag and supplies 7 local restaurants with salad, greens and herbs throughout the year. Our aim is to provide our local community with the best seasonal produce possible whilst focusing on the health of our soil and environment.
We will begin at 10:30 with introductions and an overview of what content we will be covering throughout the day. The details of each course will vary depending on the season but each day will include a range of topics including: propagating, polytunnel growing, compost, crop rotations and crop seasonality, the “no dig” method, soil health, understanding pests and diseases, using crop covers, harvesting, washing, packing, storage and most importantly eating seasonally. We will work through this knowledge and how we put it into action, lending tips and tricks that we have learnt along the way.
Whether you are keen to start a market garden of your own, would like to grow your own produce at home, or if you would simply like to understand more about growing and eating seasonally, this course is open to all levels of skill and experience and there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion throughout the day!
