Located at the Community Hall in the Children’s Centre, The Cinema By The Sea is Looe’s community cinema, dedicated to screening world-class films in high definition with surround sound.
Funded by The National Lottery, Cornwall Community Foundation and Cornwall Council, The Cinema By The Sea is run by volunteers and is well known for programming some of the most celebrated, big-budget films. With previous screenings including ‘Spectre’, ‘The Song Of The Sea’, ‘Brooklyn’ and ‘The Crow’s Egg’, more recent screenings also include box-office favourites such as ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’, ‘The Girl On The Train’ and ‘Sweet Bean’.
In addition to screening some of the most sought-after blockbusters, the cinema is also a popular venue for viewing theatre and opera shows. Previous screenings have included ‘The Importance Of Being Earnest’ from The Vaudeville Theatre, London, ‘Turandot’ performed by Opera Australia on Sydney Harbour, and ‘Julius Caesar’ by Globe On Screen.
Take a trip to the small coastal town of Looe and watch some of the very best national and international film, theatre and opera shows, within the comfort of this unique community cinema.
The cinema is accessible by public transport links but if you’re travelling by car, the Children’s Centre provides a small car park and there is plenty of street parking nearby. For more information, visit http://cinemabythesea.org.uk/.
