Located on the outskirts of Praa Sands village, this community centre is a popular space used by the community for activities and events, as well as performing artists from the music, dance and theatre scene.
Featuring a large hall with a staging area, many well-known names from the UK’s music scene have performed at Praa Sands Community Centre, including folk duo Ninebarrow and folk singer Sarah McQuaid, as well as Clive Carroll, an acoustic guitarist whose repertoire celebrates 1,000 years of music from Spanish guitar classics through to The Beatles. Janice Mitchelson has also featured at this venue, performing a wide range of musical genres, including jazz, soul, folk and gospel.
Family-friendly events also feature on the centre’s programming, often during daytime hours so children of all ages can enjoy an entertaining and engaging show, such as Angel Heart Theatre’s ‘Freya: A Viking Saga’, a puppet show for young children which has previously been performed at this centre.
The centre itself is also a valuable facility for the community, providing much-needed space for a variety of workshops and classes, such as Zumba, pilates and tai chi, as well as hosting local club network events such as the Germoe & District WI and a local gardening club.
Complete with performing arts and music licenses for musical and theatrical shows, and run entirely by volunteers, this centre is at the heart of the Praa Sands community and is conveniently situated near to the A394 and Germoe Crossroads.
