About this event
A comical insight into a career in marine biology.
This talk takes a sideways look at a somewhat haphazard career in marine science. It includes a look at a proposed tidal power barrage in the Severn Estuary; pollution of our estuaries and coasts; the impacts of antifouling paints, radioactive waste, nano-materials and sex changes in molluscs, together with the importance and relevance of mud and the life within it! The talk is illustrated with bad photographs and terrible diagrams, and takes a cynical look at science funding and the challenges facing in a career in environmental science. Not to be missed!
There is a suggested donation of £2 per person to the Looe Marine Conservation Group for this event to cover costs. The talk will be followed by our monthly meeting to which all are welcome.
