Wheal Martyn Family Fun Day

Wheal Martyn invite you to join them on Sunday 26 April to celebrate ‘Transport’ at a virtual Family Fun Day.

Here are just a few activities for you to enjoy:

• Make up your own mode of ‘transport’ and build a model or draw a picture of your creation. You could raid your recycling bin and create a fantastic junk model.
• Build a track in your sitting room or garden for your model cars, trucks and trains.
• Have a go at the Transport Scavenger Quiz – download it here. Go searching through your garage, bedroom draws, kitchen cupboard or toy box to complete the challenge.
• Bake and decorate a cake or some biscuits in the ‘Transport’ theme.
  Simple Solutions: simply decorate a plain biscuit, like Rich Tea or Digestives, with a wagon wheel design. Or, build a biscuit collage of a vehicle.
  A Bit More Tricky: bake a cake and decorate it as a vehicle or build it in the shape of a vehicle.
• Build a Clay Cargo Ship (download an activity sheet here). Use your recycling bin to make a cargo ship to carry a load. Your ship should be able to float and carry a load without tipping over. Test your cargo ship in a washing up bowl or sink and add small weights to see what the maximum load is that it can carry. Don’t forget to share photos of your designs with us!
• Relax with some colouring. Download the Colouring Clay Transport on the Website.
• Build a Mini Nature Raft with Badger Forest Schools. Visit the website to see a great video demonstration!
• Simply gather some simple materials from around your garden or during your daily walk, such as short sticks, leaves and grasses.
• Use some wool or string to tie them together to create a simple raft. You could add a mast and sail.
• Test your raft in a pond, stream, puddle or even a paddling pool. You could even have a raft race!
