A film screening about the famous St Ives Jumbos!

This special screening is a fundraiser for the St.Ives Jumbo Association, a local charity which specifically uses engineless sailing to promote the maritime heritage of St.Ives by teaching its members how to handle the traditional ‘dipping lug’ rig and to ‘scully’ with a single oar. It’s the brainchild of Jonny Nance who replicated two ‘Jumbos’ – Victorian fishing luggers of a type unique to St.Ives – and two St.Ives punts for the purpose which may be seen in the harbour just outside the venue. The charity welcomes everyone and no previous experience is required.
