About this event
Yann Pierre Tiersen is a French Breton musician and composer. His musical career is split between studio recordings, music collaborations, and film soundtracks (Amélie) composing.
Yann Tiersen returns with an intimate solo piano and electronics performance showcasing his new album ‘Rathlin from a Distance | The Liquid Hour.’ This powerful work emerged from his sailboat journeys across Ireland, Scotland, and the British Isles, where the isolation of sea travel inspired profound reflection.
The album presents two distinct yet interconnected parts: the introspective piano pieces of ‘Rathlin from a Distance’ serve as “maps to the self,” while ‘The Liquid Hour’ delivers genre-defying electronic psychedelia that channels rage against capitalism into hope for collective transformation.
Expect an evening that challenges conventional performance as Tiersen continues redefining what touring can be in an era of climate urgency. From driving his van across Europe with only his dog for company to sailing aboard his vessel Ninnog, he creates intimate connections that reject commercial touring norms while embracing authentic experience.
