About this event

Scottish Gaelic, Cornish and Livonian singers exploring minority language song in connection to the natural world.

This unique musical collaboration explores minority language song and its deep connection to the natural world, showcasing how language can express, in exciting and different ways, the essence of the landscapes that inspire us.

The Yeth ha Tir concert will feature captivating songs in Cornish, Livonian, and Scottish Gaelic, composed and performed by Cornish singer and poet, Laurie Huggett, along with distinguished Gaelic and Livonian artists.

The concert will also include a screening of the short film OLD GODS which uses the ancient Cornish track way, The Tinners Way, as a narrative thread. This immersive experience explores connections between the past and the present, the natural and the supernatural, the physical and the spiritual. Produced and directed by award-winning Irish based filmmaker David Ian Bickley.

Redruth Wesley is a large and beautiful early 19th century Methodist church, with a campaign currently underway to buy and refurbish it as a community, cultural space. While we wait to improve the heating system and replace pews with more comfortable seating, you may wish to come with warm clothing and a cushion for a more comfortable evening.
There will be non-alcoholic hot and cold drinks and snacks available to buy.
There is step-free access and an accessible toilet.
The closest car park for Redruth Wesley is Flowerpot Chapel. There is plenty of free parking at Redruth School.
You won’t need a printed ticket. You can show us a digital version of your ticket upon arrival and/or we will have a list of those who’ve booked on the door.
