Contemporary Art workshops for Kids and Teens: Cold Wax Painting

St Ives School of Painting run art workshops for local children aged 7 to 10 and teenagers aged 11 to 16. They run once a month on a Sunday in our art studios overlooking the beach.

These workshops give young people the experience of being young artists: – they get to work on easels, use the same high-quality materials as those on our adult courses, and are taught by experienced artist tutors in a working art studio.

The projects are called Kids Art Club and Porthmeor Art Collective. They are a brilliant way of injecting some creativity into their lives outside of school and for the teens, to meet like-minded young people. The sessions are £10 but we can offer limited FREE Scholarship places for those on low income. Please contact us for a Scholarship form to apply: [email protected].

12th November: Cold Wax Painting with Laura Menzies.

An amazing opportunity for young artists to try using cold wax medium. Led by Laura Menzies, an abstract artist based in Penryn that was recently featured in Artists and Illustrators magazine.

Learn how to build up layers to create abstract paintings with cold wax, full of texture and depth. The workshop will also look at fun mark-making techniques using a range of tools and materials. Young artists will leave with a small series of works on paper and new knowledge of this fun and diverse medium.

Times: Kids 10am-12pm and Teens 2pm-4pm.
