About this event
St Ives School of Painting run art workshops for local children aged 7 to 10 and teenagers aged 11 to 16. They run once a month on a Sunday in our art studios overlooking the beach.
These workshops give young people the experience of being young artists: – they get to work on easels, use the same high-quality materials as those on our adult courses, and are taught by experienced artist tutors in a working art studio.
The projects are called Kids Art Club and Porthmeor Art Collective. They are a brilliant way of injecting some creativity into their lives outside of school and for the teens, to meet like-minded young people. The sessions are £10 but we can offer limited FREE Scholarship places for those on low income. Please contact us for a Scholarship form to apply: [email protected]
Sunday 15th October: Document a journey with John Dyer.
Go on a walk with Cornish artist John Dyer. Learn from him to capture your journey with sketches, starting at the studio and gathered on each part of your walk to the beach. Then with his help, turn these into a painting.
Inspired by John’s illustrative and colourful style, create a painting back at the studio using each of the elements of your walk. Known for his famous seagull and his artist in residence project at Eden, he brings a wealth of experience to help you interpret the world around you into a painting. Learn about composition, simplifying shapes and using vibrant acrylic colour.
Times: Kids 10am-12pm and Teens 2pm-4pm.
