Young Potters Throw

Find out how potters at Leach Pottery throw on a wheel and try for yourself.

Watch how they use a potter’s wheel as they talk through the process step by step and then have a try yourself. The workshop leader will support you as you experiment with different techniques while also ensuring all participants have time to independently focus on developing their skills. While no pots from the workshop are fired, participants are welcome to display a pot they have made in the Museum Potter’s Corner. Workshops are led by one workshop leader and a workshop assistant. Drop-off and pick-up will be at the Museum entrance. Under 18s must be dropped off and collected by a parent or guardian. Due to the current building works onsite there is no parking at the Pottery. Please email ahead should you need to reserve a disabled parking bay.

The workshop will be taking place in Bernard’s Studio. We regret this heritage space is not buggy or wheel chair friendly as it is up a flight of steps. Please contact [email protected] if you want to take part but can’t use the steps and we will arrange an alternative space for your workshop to take place. Parking will be available at St John’s in the Field.

Price: Free to TR26 & TR27 postcodes during the 1.30pm or 3.30pm workshops each Thursday. Any bookings from non eligible postcodes made for these workshops will be asked to pay for the places.
