For the last 5 years Darryl Collins has been dishing up virtuoso desserts at Resort World in Birmingham where he headed up a team of eight pastry chefs. Darryl and his Sous Chef entered Bake Off – The Professionals in 2018 aired on Channel 4, where they reached the final of the competition.
Darryl started out in the 1990’s as a kitchen porter at the Tredragon Hotel in Mawgan Porth. He then went on to study at St Austell then Camborne College, since then his career has taken him all over the UK and these days he is recognised as one of the UK’s top pâtissiers.
Now happily back in Cornwall where his career started, Darryl will be concentrating all his efforts into his new business venture Yumii Patisserie, starting with ‘Yumii Afternoon Tea’ a click and collect service based in Newquay.
There will be a mouth-watering selection of treats in the take away afternoon tea box, designed for two to share; Orange and buttermilk scones with Cornish clotted cream and jam, lemon curd mini loaves, classic éclairs, raspberry and vanilla slices, extras such as salted caramel and malted milk macaron’s can be ordered too.
From 10th August cake lovers will be able to download the app, order their afternoon tea and schedule a collection time, there will be an option for a local Newquay delivery service too. This Yumii afternoon tea service is for locals and tourists alike, anyone wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of busy cafés and restaurants can take their treats home, or to the nearby beaches or open spaces to enjoy them.
