Halloween Half Term

Bags of inspiration for your freaky festivities this Halloween.

Get ready for a spooktacular Halloween Half Term with Cornwall 365 What’s On. In this edition we’ve got plenty of eerie events and fearsome fun to tempt one and all. From bewitching bat hunts to scary storytelling, creepy crafts and murder mysteries. This Halloween is set to be a great one in Cornwall. 1. Halloween Horrors

Sat 19th – Sun 27th October, 2019
Newquay Zoo

Bring your little horrors to the zoo this half term for some spooktacular fun! Complete the bewitching bat hunt trail and receive a special prize. Catch a creepy crawly talk, daily at 2pm, watch the animals go wild over eerie enrichment and dig out your spookiest fancy dress for a beastly surprise.

2. Half Term at Flambards

Sat 19th – Thurs 31st October, 2019
Flambards, Helston

From thrill rides to a Halloween Tricks & Treats Firework Spectacular, there’s an awful lot of family fun on offer at Flambards Theme Park over the October Half Term holidays. Families can enjoy spine-tingling rides and a spooky pumpkin trail in the creepy Victorian Village throughout the day and watch fireworks light up the sky in the evening. Headlining the Wednesday night celebrations will be a fantastic tribute show, so you can sing and dance the night away! All the Helston theme park’s rides and attractions – including the white-knuckle Sky-Force ride – are also open daily throughout the half term break alongside a horrifying host of additional fun thrills and chills on offer.

3. Rogue Theatre: Dead of Night Dance

Sat 19th – Thurs 31st October, 2019
Tehidy Woods

The Dead of Night Dance is a wild and wonderful Halloween celebration with theatre laughter, music, stories, thrills, frights, delights and dancing. Wander the winding woodland path and through Mr Logan’s gate into the land of the rapturously dead, where lost souls await, to show you the way, and mislead you to the Dead of Night Dance. Rest in the peace of the underworld forest and chill, as a collection of comic, ghoulish and ghostly stories come to life on Mrs Logan’s wonderworld stage! And then…at the end…after the final curtain; raise your spirits with a party, hit the dancefloor, shake your bones, and when it is your time, follow the lights back home.

4. Halloweek at Camel Creek

Sat 19th – Thu 31st October, 2019
Camel Creek Adventure Park, Wadebridge

A spell has been cast over the Adventure Park and the Witches of the Wilderness have scared away the Creeky Camel and unearthed some new attractions for families to come and enjoy. Will you dare visit? Can you handle the scares? From the Witch’s grotto, to tricks and treats, there is something for everyone! There is even a REWARD up for grabs if you can help catch the escaped prisoners around the park.

5. Curses and Crossbones at Pirate's Quest

Sat 19th October – Fri 1st November, 2019
Pirate’s Quest, Newquay

Captain Calico Jack and his crew are preparing for ‘Curses and Crossbones’ this October Half Term. The Newquay based pirate experience has been struck by a curse from a sea witch who has transformed the caves and coves of Pirate’s Quest into an otherworldly scene. The resident privateers are asking for local landlubbers to join the quest in defeating the tempest. Visitors will set sail on the creepy voyage with a live pirate guide who’ll transport them back 300 years to the Golden Age of Piracy.

6. Halloweden

Sat 19th October – Sun 3rd November, 2019
Eden Project, Par

Are you brave enough to venture into the deep dark woods this October half-term? Explore Eden’s forbidden forest filled with mythical monsters and outlandish beasts. Come face to face with some very unusual animals, including the extremely rare Mongolian Death Worm and the loveable Giant Beast. Get hands-on and make marvellous potions using the finest botanicals and some extra special secret ingredients, and join Screech Owl Sanctuary to learn all about their magnificent creatures.

7. Halloween Half Term at Wheal Martyn

Wheal Martyn, St Austell

Explore your creative side this October half term in a series of new workshops, and spot your creations in the exhibitions at the three day Light and Clay event in December! Make clay lanterns with ceramicist Jenny Beavan, and try your hand at making some glow in the dark decorations. This half term, you can also try a spot of Halloween themed pottery painting, and explore the outdoors with Badger Forest School.

8. Silhouettes & Shadows

Mon 21st – Sun 27th October, 2019 (selected dates)
National Maritime Museum Cornwall, Falmouth

Yskynna return to NMMC this October half term with intimate performances and story telling through aerial dance and a sensitive musical score. Craft a mermaid,  shark or octopus and create your own shadow show for all to see. Or make a lantern too for spooky stories at home. Don’t forget to find all the hand shadows hidden throughout the Museum to claim your prize.

9. Halloween with intoBodmin

The Old Library, Bodmin

There is plenty going on at The Old Library this Halloween. Get ready to shiver, shake, shudder and scream with Squashbox Theatre’s first ever Halloween show. Craig has just inherited a creepy mansion from his mysterious Great Uncle Vladimir… Join him as he explores the mansion’s secrets and meets some of its spookier inhabitants – all the while attempting to get ready to go Trick or Treating. Or visit the Haunted Bookshop with Coppice Theatre and prepare yourself for terrible tales, scary stories and gruesome goings on! Bodmin’s very own film club will be also hosting a special Halloween instalment this month. Find out more below.

10. Half-term at Porthcurno Telegraph Museum

Telegraph Museum Porthcurno

This October half-term, the Telegraph Museum Porthcurno invite you to take part in a PK Pioneers ‘Spooky WEB Mask Making’ activity workshops. Held on Tuesday 22 and Thursday 24 October in the museum, these Halloween inspired sessions are FREE with admission for kids of all ages and accompanying adults. Just drop in during session hours, no booking required.

11. Halloween Murder Mystery

Thurs 24th October, 2019
Bodmin & Wenford Railway

2019 will be Murder By Appointment’s 27th year of bringing Murder and Mystery to Bodmin Railway. This year they proudly present ‘Stranger on the Train’ a tale of intrigue, suspense and of course murder! Watch as the plot unfolds but keep your eyes peeled. Is every passenger who they say they are? Solve the mysteries, have a stab at identifying the correct murderer & be in with a chance of winning a prize – all while enjoying a ride on a steam train.

12. Cowslip Theatre: Fly-by-night

Carnglaze Caverns, Liskeard

Come and join Cowslip Theatre at Carnglaze Caverns on the 24th October for a one off, immersive storytelling experience. Visit the family friendly underground underworld when the veil is thin. Come and follow a Halloween story through the caves hosted by creatures of the night and lost souls searching for light.

13. Spooktacular Activities at Bodmin Jail

14. Fairy Tales & the Deep Dark Forest

Enjoy a free drop-in family Think and Make session at CAST this half-term. Stray from the path through the deep dark forest and get lost in dark tales and the wild imagination. Dress-up available, or come in your own fairy tale costume!

15. Halloween Wonderland

Newquay Zoo

Wonderland was first performed by Atlantic Coast Theatre Co. (Treviglas Academy’s own youth theatre company) in February 2019. Originally written by Simon Harvey (KneeHigh/ o-region), Newquay Zoo have now teamed up with Treviglas Academy to adapt and bring the popular show back for this special one off evening! Join us as we follow Alex on a journey into Wonderland, meeting familiar characters. Help him in completing crazy tasks, all to rediscover his ‘Mojo’. Don’t be late for this very important date!

16. Halloween Ghost Tour

Charlestown Shipwreck Museum
Brave souls have the chance to embark on a supernatural visit to the Shipwreck Museum, in Charlestown, this Halloween night with the brand-new Dead Men Do Tell Tales ghost tour. The adult-only tour will encompass the Shipwreck Museum and its 8,000 artefact collection and incorporate tales of shipwrecks, curses, superstitions and ghosts along the way.
