Cornwall 365’s June Top Picks

Music festivals, gin extravaganzas, outdoor theatre and proper Cornish stand-up are just some of the many events happening in Cornwall this June.

June is a joyous time to be in Cornwall. The sun is out (well, hopefully!), the Cornish festival season is in full swing, and great theatre is heading outdoors for fabulous open-air performances. Check out our June Top Picks below – we’ll see you out there!

Catherine Wood is the Senior Curator of International Art at Tate Modern, and will be talking through her projects in a special free talk at Falmouth University’s AMATA. Catherine was instrumental in founding the performance programme at Tate Modern in 2003, and since then has programmed more than two hundred live works. The talk will cover a range of these projects, as well as discussion about the programme and the position of dance within the contemporary museum.

This event is organised by CAST and hosted by the Academy of Music and Theatre Arts at Falmouth University, as part of the Groundwork programme. Free admission but booking is required.

Celebrating the centenary of Charles Causley’s birth, the festival at Launceston this year will celebrate the achievements of this wonderful Cornish poet, reflecting all his artistic influences. There will be art exhibitions, music, talks, book signings, drama and poetry, as well as a street food fest. The Festival will be given a rousing start with a concert by Cornwall’s own buoy band Fishermen’s Friends.

We’re told he’s not a real doctor but will talk about hands, feet, chance and magic… Artist Chlor Cooper will be performing on the night with storytelling in the new amazing Clore Sky Studio (with a stunning view best enjoyed with cocktails from the bar) as well as dance from Kuldip Singh Barmi and artists animations.
