Enjoy a cream tea and be serenaded by The Cake Club Clarinettists as you look out to sea!
The Cake Club was formed 12 years ago, when the clarinet players from a newly formed Returners Orchestra decided they wanted to meet up during the summer break and keep playing. The first host cooked a fabulous cake and started the tradition of the post-rehearsal drinks and cakes.
There have been a few changes in players over the years and we currently have 10 regular players. We play the usual Bb clarinets as well as the little Eb Clarinet and the larger Alto and Bass Clarinets.
Previous performances have seen us playing at Camborne Wesley Church, Art exhibitions at Trelissick Gardens, the Mylor Yacht Club and Lunchtime Concerts at King Charles the Martyr in Falmouth as well as joint projects with the Dancers from MADE at Kea Church and Flambards.
Our repertoire is a far-reaching mix of styles from arrangements of baroque pieces by Purcell and Handel to contemporary classics such as Moonlight Serenade and Somewhere over the Rainbow, as well as pieces written for Clarinet Choirs by composers such as Clare Grundman.
