About this event
Space & Silence in Poetry
Led by Cathy Galvin
Poets work with two materials, one’s black and one’s white. Call them sound and silence; life and death, hot and cold, love and loss … Glyn Maxwell
This two-hour workshop aims to increase your confidence as a writer, by helping you see the blank page as a friend, not an enemy. What we choose not to say, how we decide to open spaces to let the reader in, what we remove from a text, is as important as anything we may choose to write.
Cathy Galvin will draw on her own experience as a poet and editor, and the work of leading poets and prose writers, to help you re-appraise how space and silence on the page can strengthen your work.
Here is a valuable opportunity to work with her in a small group, finding inspiration in key texts and with space to write and experiment. You will come away with new work, recommended reading and further writing exercises to practise on your own. Cathy is an experienced workshop leader keen to work with you in a friendly, supportive and confidential setting.
NB This event is only available Online. Please book your Free ticket. You will receive a confirmation of your Order straight away. Later, nearer the event date & time, you will be emailed your personal Zoom link to the Online event.
