Set on the site of Liskerrett’s former junior school, the Liskerrett Centre has been open to the public since 2002, providing an invaluable space for events, performances and film screenings, as well as activities, classes and workshops for the local community.
Cornwall’s rural performing arts scheme Carn to Cove schedules regular shows at the centre, from lively, engaging and entertaining shows from well-respected theatre companies, to intimate musical performances from some of the music scene’s most popular and talented artists.
The centre is also used as a venue for the local film club network to screen movies throughout the year, including Hollywood box-office hits as well as independent films, documentaries and animations. The hall itself features full blackout curtains, which creates the ideal ambience and setting for a relaxing cinema experience.
In addition to offering hall space with the capacity to seat 100, the centre is also home to ten art studios that are rented out to local artists, as well as an on-site vegetarian cafe, an IT suite and a community garden area. There are also well-appointed toilets available which include baby-changing facilities.
Located near the western edge of the Cattle Market car park (for handy nearby parking for visitors), the Liskerrett Centre is just a three-minute drive from Liskeard, an ancient stannary and market town.
