Hilarious ballet superstars Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo make their first visit to Cornwall, at Hall for Cornwall, this Autumn.
For almost 50 years, the amazing all-male comedy ballet company Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo (known as “The Trocks”) have been delighting audiences of all ages at sell-out performances featuring their fabulous sense of fun and flawless dance.
The Trocks started out in 1974 as a downtown New York drag act. Nearly 50 years on, The Trocks are known and loved worldwide for their hilarious parodies/homages and sassy spoofs of the conventions of classical ballet, where 16 dancers each transform into two personas, both ballerina and danseur!
Every performance is jam-packed with testosterone and tutus (of course), as well as an abundance of blush-pink ballet pumps, and fierce false eyelashes, all oozing prima ballerina attitude. Beyond their fabulous attire, The Trocks sustain immaculate technique and physicality, all tied together with their comical timing. This all-male ballet company has gained an international reputation and respect for blending drag, comedy and top-quality dance.
Their signature style holds an important message of equality and inclusion with audiences across the globe. Trocks reimagine what we have come to expect from ballet whilst providing a stage for dancers who can often be under-represented in this field; whether that be due to sexual orientation, gender identity, size, class, race or ethnicity.
This is The Trocks’ seventeenth visit to the UK, and are gracing the stage of the newly renovated Hall for Cornwall on the 25th of October. You can expect beloved classical ballets and modern works with a twist, as well as iconic music by Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Vivaldi and Massenet. Although Trocks may be hilarious they are also seriously underpinned with huge knowledge and respect for the original repertoire.
The programme includes Le Lac des Cygnes (Swan Lake Act II); Vivaldi Suite; and Raymonda’s Wedding. This is Trocks’ first time coming to Cornwall, so don’t miss your chance to see this incredible show, previously described as ‘one of the most entertaining shows on planet Earth’.
