Gool Peran Lowen! St Piran’s Day, or the Feast of St Piran, is on 5th March and sees celebrations taking place all over Cornwall.
Marches, festivals and shouts (a proper sing up in a pub) mark the special day across Cornwall. Read on to see our 12 top picks to celebrate St Piran’s Day!
1. St Pirans Day in Redruth

The popular Cornish festival returns to Redruth filled with live music, food, interactive stalls, workshops and the launch of an exciting new family fun activity.
Activities include tree planting, the launch of the Tolgus Tracks interactive app, live music, stilt walkers, drama performances and the traditional Obby Oss around town; the launch of the People’s Museum and workshops led by Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change.
Redruth Town Market will return for 2022 and there’ll also be many stalls in Lower Fore Street, including some delicious street food…
Cobweb Tours will be launching their walking festival with a St Piran’s Day theme and Cornwall’s famous Trewlaney Shout will be performed at midday.

Celebrating Cornwall’s Patron Saint in the home of St Piran himself, Perranporth! An evening of traditional Cornish and Irish folk music, song and dance with The Stowes – a nod to Cornwall’s most famous Irish outcast.
Expect live bands and toe-tapping traditional music, with a chance to join the ceilidh dancing or just sit back and enjoy the atmosphere. As legend goes St Piran was the merriest, hardest drinking, hardest living holy man Cornwall ever knew. So in his honour, there will be a fully stocked bar.

A St Piran’s Day Special event. Five seasoned musicians with tight four-part harmony vocals and a token Cornishman. With a relaxed and light-hearted presentation style, they take the audience on a journey through the history and culture of Cornwall, featuring their own arrangements of traditional and contemporary songs, as well as some original material.
Interspersed with the occasional pop cover to lighten the mood when required, there is no mistaking that to a man, they love their county with a passion.

St Austell’s St Piran’s Day Event is a free community event for one and all to enjoy.
Expect a craft fair in Fore street St Austell and in the Market House, with local musicians playing in the Market House foyer. There will be cultural/heritage stalls, a flash mob performance by Playmake Theatre as well a Cornish language taster session running throughout the day and much more!
6. St Piran’s Day event

Join us for a day of free celebrations as we unveil a brand new artwork by Abigail Reynolds and celebrate themes of home and homecoming. There are family workshops, songs, an unveiling of new glass artwork by Abigail Reynolds, with a performance by the St Just Ordinalia choir
Drop in and join artist Vicki Aimers to make a simple printed pocketbook inspired by home and that great feeling of coming home. It’s a special place to keep your treasured mementoes such as photos and notes. There will also be a performance by The Story Republic and a stained-glass picture workshop with artist Melanie Young.
7. Cornish Concert & St Piran Furry

St John’s Hall, Penzance
After a two year hiatus due to the pandemic, the ever-popular St Piran Furry and concert will be returning to Penzance.
Come along to the special Cornish Concert at St John’s Hall with performances from St Piran School’s Choir and Penzance Guizers. Local school children will be dancing the Furry Dance through Causewayhead and Morrab Gardens accompanied by the Mayor of Penzance.
8. St Piran’s Day Truro

There is an exciting line-up of events planned for St Piran’s Day in Truro. The parade will leave from Waterfall Gardens before culminating at High Cross for speeches and songs.
There will be three free workshops running throughout the day: get your dancing shoes on and learn Truro’s St Piran’s Day March with Cornwall Dance School at Truro Cathedral. Create and decorate a sash to wear for Truro’s parade at Royal Cornwall Museum with artist Sue Loydell. There will be a drop-in craft-based activity with stories, inspired by Jack The Giant Killer and Cormoran the Giant from St Michael’s Mount.
9. St. Piran’s Day Falmouth

10. St Piran's Day Celebration at The Tywarnhayle Inn

An evening St Piran’s celebration. The Bryher’s Boys will be providing live music and entertainment, as you tuck in to a pasty, or two (steak, veg & vegan) from The Tywarnehayle Inn. At 9pm, join in with the Duchy-wide singing of Trelawney!
11. St Pirans Day with the Cadgwith Singers

Join in the mass rendition of the unofficial Cornish anthem ‘Trelawny’ on St Piran’s Day with the Cadgwith Singers, to celebrate community, heritage, and the joy of Cornwall.
Starting with ‘Trelawny’ being sung enmass as well as the ‘Trelawney Shout’. Join us and be part of this historic event.
12. St Piran’s Day – Urban Kelt Sessions

Urban Kelt Celtic Coffee Shop, Newquay
Celtic Coffee Shop at Newquay Museum, is using its intimate setting within the museum to showcase local musicians and spoken word artists. Recently extended to allow larger audience numbers Urban Kelt will be hosting artists primarily working on Cornish and Celtic themes as well as speakers providing illustrated talks on Cornwall’s history and cultural heritage.
They aim to film some of these performers to include as part of the virtual St Piran’s Day festival on Sunday 6th, which also creates a legacy for worldwide access and future use.
