About this event
ARKangel will return to the St Ives September Festival this year with their
new show An Anatomy of Tango.
Their appearance at the St Ives Society of Artists’ Mariners Gallery follows the success of their 2021 Milonga del
Angel show at the same venue.
The violin and classical guitar duo – Katherine and Alan Clark from
Nottinghamshire – are September Festival regulars who also appear at
some of Bob Devereux’s daily lunchtime music and poetry sessions in
Norway Square.
Through music and word they trace another rich story of tango, from the
infested swamps of La Boca to smuggled contraband and slaves, from the
reeking mud of San Telmo to the emergence of an architectural pearl, from
the diverse folk traditions that spawned this improvisatory art form to the
stunning tangos of the Golden Age and the rich complexities of Tango
Nuevo.
