About this event
Born in Penzance, Harold Harvey (1874 – 1941) is one of only two Cornish-born artists of the Newlyn School group. An active member of both the Newlyn and Lamorna artistic colonies, his early works depicting the local fishing industry showed the influence of artists such as Stanhope Forbes and his later work is clearly inspired by the artists of the Lamorna colony, such as Dod Procter.
The exhibition will incorporate over 50 paintings from public and private collections, celebrating Harvey’s entire career. This includes some works which have rarely, if ever, been seen before.
