Armed Forces Day Navigation Challenge at Bodmin Keep

Bodmin Keep – Cornwall’s Army Museum is hosting a navigation challenge on Sunday 25 June as part of celebrations for Armed Forces Day. The challenge will involve competitors pitted against one another to win the most points in the fastest time.

Working in teams, participants will be given a map with a series of locations around Bodmin and will collect points by solving clues at each location. The team that completes the challenge with the most points in the fastest time will win an adventure experience with Footsteps of Discovery axe-throwing and den-building in Nantillo Woods for a group of up to eight people.

Registration for the Navigation Challenge starts at 11am and closes at 1pm. The navigation challenge ends at 3.00pm and all completion times must be submitted by 3.00pm. You will have two hours to complete the challenge. The winners will be announced at 4pm.

Participants will embark on a self-guided tour of the town and the surrounding area, using the map to locate sites and discover more about heritage sites and Bodmin’s military history. This longer route will take participants around Bodmin and the outskirts. The challenge will take no longer than two hours to complete.

– This route is suitable for people over the age of 11 with ‘average’ fitness levels and will involve some steep climbs
– Please bring your own compass to the event. Most smart phones will have an inbuilt compass. If you would like to borrow a compass, please contact [email protected] we have a limited number available on site
– Sensible footwear is advised.

We have a self-service coffee stop selling coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cold drinks and snacks on site. The nearby Bodmin and Wenford Steam Railway Café will be open for lunch or visitors can bring a picnic to enjoy on site.

Cream teas will be served from 3pm for a donation to the museum. Bodmin Town Band will be performing in the grounds from 3.30pm.
