About this event
Werner Herzog’s Aguirre: The Wrath of God (1972) follows the story of the doomed conquistador Gonzalo Pizarro. In the 1560s, the legendary Pizarro led a band of men into the Peruvian rainforest, lured by stories of a lost city. Herzog uses a minimalist approach to dialogue to create a vision of madness and folly, set against the lush but unforgiving Amazonian jungle. The film is accompanied by a haunting soundtrack from experimental rock group Popol Vuh.
The film has been selected by artist and CAST studio holder Charlie Duck. Charlie is a Lecturer on BA Drawing at Falmouth School of Art. His practice explores process, chance and the agency of materials, particularly within the context of drawing and its expanded field.
