BIG Ocean Movement

A FREE event for all the community. Celebrate Newquay's surf culture and awesome community

The BIG Ocean Movement is a celebration of the community, landscapes and heritage of Newquay town through dance, movement and surf culture.

4Motion has been working with local schools to create the BIG Ocean Movement, an accessible and fun flash mob choreographed by 4Motion along side local young people. The dance represents and embodies all the things young people love about Newquay – the beaches, wildlife, ocean, coast path walks, outdoor spaces, and enjoying spaces with friends.

We will be facilitating a guided walk around the iconic landscapes and sites of Newquay, starting at Newquay Harbour; audience members will be greeted by performances by local dancers and community groups. The walk ends on the Killacourt, an accessible central outdoor space in Newquay where we will host The BIG Ocean Movement Community Flash mob and fun workshops for all the family and community.

4Motion is hosting The BIG Ocean Movement on Saturday 29th July, 10am – 2pm at the Killacourt in Newquay. This free event welcomes all the family, individuals and visitors and invites you to participate in the community BIG Ocean flash mob.

As part of the BIG Ocean Movement 4Motion is collaborating with Krog Den Surf Shop, another independent Newquay social enterprise business. Krog Den will be hosting a vintage surf fest on the Killacourt, displaying an array of vintage boards. Got a board? Come join the vintage surf fest with your best vintage board and be in with a chance of winning a surf board medal!

As two local businesses passionate about the ocean and supporting people to get outside to move and connect, we are super excited to welcome you all to this event.
