Dance and Movement for feeling good in Bodmin.
Dance and Movement for feeling good. We are transforming an empty shop on Fore St Bodmin into a dance space, March 11th – 29th. Breathing Space offers a programme of dance and movement open to everyone who wants to have a go. The sessions give people a chance to connect with the physical self and to express thoughts and feelings, and find fun and playfulness. It offers a place to link people to social links, mental health support networks, creative opportunities and help to engender a sense of community.
There is no charge for the sessions, instead we ask for a small donation of whatever people feel able to give.
What is on offer:
First Moves– Gentle exercises and ways in to moving. Ideal for those who feel they have lost touch with or confidence in their body.
Day Time Disco– In one hour we build up the energy and bring you back down again so you leave feeling energised and freed up. Come and have some fun, do your thing, let it go, all movers welcome.
Mindful Moving- Guided movement using inner focus, visualisation and following the breath to engage with your body, the space and other people.
Creative Exploration– A chance to express yourself and find your own movement ‘voice’. Enjoy creating your own dances based on your ideas, mood and inspirations. No set steps, do as much or as little as you like.
Just Move! – Lively, uplifting dance routines to raise your heartbeat and your spirits.
Conversations with dance- dancers Lois and Sam will dance, sometimes in response to their own ideas, and conversations they have had with you and others. You can write, draw, share your thoughts or just quietly observe.
Cuppa and Chat– drop in and chat to us about what interests you.
Breathing Space also offers space to 5 local artists to explore their response to the project.
Breathing Space is a pilot project to test out the potential, gather ideas and develop networks. We have received funding from FEAST Cornwall and the support of Restormel Mind and intoBodmin.
