About this event
The formal Gardens on St Michael’s Mount belong to the St Aubyn Family, and have been built over the years since the initial creation of the walled Garden in 1780. The St Aubyn Family will open the Gardens especially on the afternoon of Saturday the 4th June while the causeway is open to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee and to support the National Garden Scheme. All visitors, including National Trust members, are therefore required to buy a ticket for this event, where all the proceeds will be donated to the National Garden Scheme (including those from the Café and Plant Sales).
The National Garden Scheme (NGS) gives its visitors unique access to over 3500 exceptional private gardens here in the UK. It raises impressive amounts of money for Nursing and Health Charities through its admissions, teas, cakes and plant sales.
Thanks to the generosity of garden owners, volunteers and visitors the NGS have donated over £63 million to nursing and health charities over the years, and made an annual donation of over £3 million in 2021. The NGS are the biggest fundraiser for Marie Curie, but other core beneficiaries include Macmillan Cancer Support, Hospice UK and The Queen’s Nursing Institute.
Please note: Ancient, rugged and steep, some parts of the island can be tricky to navigate if you have limited mobility. Paths around the island are steep, cobbled and uneven with no handrails. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to take a wheelchair or pushchair through the Garden and sensible footwear is recommended.
ARRIVAL TIMES
Your ticket time is the time you need to arrive on the island. The island will only be open while the causeway is open on the 4th June and so please allow 15 minutes to walk across the causeway and reach the island. When you want to leave the island you can walk back to the mainland. The causeway is open on the 4th June between 13:00 and 16:45.
