About this event
Political Activist, trade unionist, radical, life and soul of the party and inspiration for her nephew Arnold Wesker’s play “Chicken Soup With Barley”, Sara Wesker was a force of nature. This is her story, told using some of the songs sung on the picket lines by Sara and the singing Strikers of 1928.
The play covers a lot of ground, but at its heart is a real woman who had a scandalous love life, suffered a broken heart and has subsequently been forgotten despite all she did to invoke change and improvements for the working class of the early 20th Century.
It’s wonderful to be bringing this tale to Cornwall, the home of Selina Cooper who, a generation before Sara paved the way for her and others like her.
Sing the songs, see the play, and join the march!
