About this event
The classical music group Harmoniemusik is delighted to return this August to give three concerts at the Parish Church of St Columb Major for its 30th anniversary series.
Harmoniemusik’s ‘Classic Cornwall’ series has secured a loyal and enthusiastic following since its first concerts in August 1992, when it began its annual celebration of outstanding chamber music in the attractive surroundings of the Parish Church at St Columb Major, an historic setting noted for its beautiful acoustic.
Since its formation in 1991, Harmoniemusik has given more than three hundred concerts in the United Kingdom, Europe and beyond, has made a number of CD recordings (which are broadcast from time to time on Radio 3) and has become renowned for its distinctive repertoire and performance style.
This year features a number of much-loved classics of the chamber music repertoire:
• piano quartets by Mozart (Thursday) and Herbert Howells (Tuesday);
• works by Haydn, Telemann and Poulenc (all on Tuesday); and
• favourites from Vivaldi and Percy Grainger (both on Thursday).
The year’s Saturday programme includes popular works from pianist Paul Guinery’s latest CD ‘Chasing Moonbeams’ and an arrangement for the ensemble of Gershwin’s ‘Anything Goes’.
Tea, coffee, soft drinks and delicious cakes will be on sale in the Columba Centre (Church Hall) both before (from 6pm) and also during the interval of each concert.
Tickets are available in advance by credit or debit card (go to harmoniemusik.square.site), by post from Harmoniemusik Bookings c/o Glebe House, Market Place, St Columb Major, TR9 6AN or on the door.
Prices are £15 / accompanied under 16s free and with a discounted three concert season ticket available for £40.
