About this event
I will be sharing a space with Sharon Aston, Wet Plate, Photography and Painters Simon and Rebecca Jewell, Jewell Art, at their Tara studios, in Mawgan. If anyone wishes to visit my studio this can be arranged during the Open Studios event.
*Please note I will not be at the OS on the Wednesday.*
I have been working with wood for over 30 years and Serpentine stone for more than 20 years. Serpentine now takes up most of my work including Sculptural forms, Jewellery, Axe heads, Pendants, Hearts, Spheres, Animal forms and Knives. There are very few serpentine workers left, now, on the Lizard, with all the quarries now closed.
I also make wooden Bark Boxes, Back Scratchers, Combs, Turned Vases, Driftwood Boats, and Spoons. I use either Driftwood or wood collected from fallen trees or sustainably sourced offcuts.
I have lived and worked on the Lizard for more than 50 years. I still enjoy discovering and working what i have collected from around the Lizard Peninsula and continue to learn my craft and appreciate this beautiful area.
At the venue, there will be 3 large rooms including Simons studio which will be displaying works by all 4 artists so there is lots to see. The kettle is always on and cakes are freshly made. There is an enclosed garden off the main gallery space where you can sit and enjoy the garden. We look forward to welcoming you to chat about our work and processes.
