About this event
I am joining my artistic partner Caroline Marwood in Open Studios this year. We collaborate together in a variety of ways including en plain air sketching and painting, as well as holding joint exhibitions and workshops. We share a love of the natural world throughout the changing seasons.
My first love has always been watercolour. I love the simplicity of en plain air sketching to create paintings that show my love of the diverse variety of West Cornwall landscapes. My passion for wild flora and fauna leads me to forage for interesting seed heads, leaves and flowers which I will either press or gel print and from these printed images create combined paintings, using collage and watercolour or acrylic. I’m also inspired by the lesser known little alleyways, streets and harbour views of my hometown St Ives. A rusting boat or a cobbled alley will often feature in my Cornish harbour townscapes as will jumbled rooftop views and the ever present seagulls.
I’m a member of the St Ives Arts Club and regularly exhibit work at the St Ives Society of Art and the Penwith Gallery.
I am thrilled to be able to exhibit my work in Caroline’s beautiful garden which provides a never ending source of inspiration for me. From her stunning garden I will be running workshops during the Open Studios week offering you a chance to explore the methods I use to create my work.
We will be offering refreshments and a warm welcome.
