About this event
I am a self-taught artist and have been painting for over nineteen year. Late in 2004 I committed to leaving no stone unturned for honest creative expression, a foundation that exists in my work to this day.
For many years, I painted only with chalk pastel using my fingers and hands, as I needed a deeply tactile and intimate way of painting. Over a period of time I taught myself to paint in oils and refine a technique using brush and multiple layers which reflected the subtlety and softness of pastel. More recently I have found this same gentleness with oil paint and fingers.
From 2010 – 2020 I lived and worked in southern France where I had my own open studio and gallery in the internationally known mountaintop village of Rennes le Chateau, the richness of colours of southern France greatly influences my work to this day.
Each piece I produce is a reflection of my own personal experience, a balance between shadow and light; the dance of the masculine and the feminine within and externally. Following my deep inner guidance I strive to get to the essence of every painting, embracing all parts of the human experience to the great Mystery beyond…
During the Cornwall Open Studios I will be showing my simple techniques using both Pastel and Oil Paints (by hand and brush) as well as continuing work on my ongoing pieces, visitor participation will be welcomed. Prints and Originals will be available to buy and of course, refreshments will be available too.

Within 3 minutes walk there is parking at the M&S car park and Tesco's, plus limited parking and drop off outside the Old Bakery Studios. The studio is on the ground floor so there is Wheelchair and Disabled access.
Directions
On the Trafalgar roundabout in the centre of Truro take the turning down the Malpas Road towards Malpas. Old Bakery Studios is about 100 metres down on the right hand side.
