About this event
FEAST would like to invite anyone interested in Music and Community to come to a networking meeting to discuss Make Music Day here in Cornwall.
Make Music Day is a grassroots celebration where communities, musicians, venues and promoters collaborate to put on free music events in their local area. FEAST and Fun Palaces are very pleased to be helping spread the word about this project.
Started in France in 1981 as Fête de la Musique, Make Music Day now takes place in 125 countries on the summer solstice. This is what Molly Dixon from Make Music Day says:
“On 21 June every year thousands of performances and events take place across the globe in what becomes the world’s largest DIY music festival. Last year’s celebrations saw over 1,000 events in the UK, reaching audiences of 140,000 people live and online – and in 2020 you could be a part of it. Make Music day is gearing up to make 21 June 2020 bigger than ever before, by creating local hubs of musicians, venues, businesses and organisations – everyone interested in bringing live music to new audiences and creating a huge impact in communities!
This meeting is an opportunity for musicians of all genres of music, professional or amateur, young or old, music groups, arts organisations, community organisations, venues and businesses to discuss how to get involved in Make Music Day in Cornwall and maybe form some instant partnerships with others. Come along to hear about previous Make Music Day activities, meet others to form collaborations for this year, and take away materials and resources to help you take part in the largest grassroots music festival in the world!”
Join us at a local network event taking place at Heartlands, Pool on Monday 24 February.
