About this event

A busy working studio full of expressive, abstract art both finished and in progress; look through my sketchbooks and chat about my work. All welcome!

Down a bumpy country track my large, drafty studio (once an agricultural garage) is full of curiousities; bits and pieces collected over the years, piles of unfinished work, stacks of sketchbooks… and of course plenty of finished paintings to look at.

I paint mostly with acrylics , with often highly textured marks and contrasting surfaces. Although the work is abstract it suggests landscapes moulded by thought and experience, reflecting my fascination with our very personal ‘inner landscapes’.

I use collage too, to hint at a splicing together of different places – most often Cornwall, but with hints of coasts and mountains far away… and graffiti-like texts often find their way into my paintings, a response to the importance of the written word in my life.

You’ll be able to leaf through my sketchbooks too, and talk to me about some of the workshops I’ll be offering later in the year.

Directions

Turn R (from Crowlas direction) or L (from St Erth direction) at a wooden fence and a sign for Tregilliowe Farm. Follow the lane all the way down and turn right as soon as it starts to open out. There’s a short bumpy track down to Winnard Barn.
