About this event
Jane started her journey as a jeweller in 1996, and after going on to complete a metals, glass and ceramics degree at Plymouth CAD, she then went on to work, and hone her skills, in a full-time job with a prestigious Truro jeweller, who she still works with 21 years later. Over the years she has completed some interesting and unusual commissions using all precious metals and gemstones, but her favourite metal to work in is silver.
Jane makes rustic, gothic style pieces inspired by the natural world and landscapes. Older jewellery styles, as far back as ancient roman and Celtic jewellery, to romantic Art Nouveau, have also been big influences. She feels very lucky to be able to create her beautiful pieces in her workshop at home, looking out over the garden.
At the Open Studios you will be able to see a collection of large, and unique, one off statement pieces, alongside smaller pieces such as earrings, pendants and rings. All the jewellery has been handcrafted by Jane here in Cornwall.
Alongside Jane’s jewellery will be a wonderful selection of talented local artisans including a painter and illustrator, photographer, guitar maker, ceramacist, sculptor of flotsam, a woodturner, and a textile artist working from nettles.
The Mount Pleasant Eco Park venue is well known for showcasing local talent and boasts a wonderful vegetarian café, free parking, dog walks and disabled access. During the weekend you will have access to several artists working in different mediums and a chance to meet the artists themselves. There will also be workshops running alongside the exhibition throughout the weekend. The Eco Park is five minutes drive away from the wonderful Porthtowan beach and is family and dog friendly.
