About this event
Off Grid is a series of 8 site-specific artworks created by young artists (17-25) from West Cornwall to celebrate or signpost the under-used and overlooked spaces between Penzance and Newlyn.
Launching on 3 June alongside the opening of the Penzance Festival of Art (3-19 Jun), we want to create a sense of connection between the two settlements and send people on unexpected routes to discover new aspects of their own locale, with the artworks as markers and points of emphasis on the way.
You are invited to take part in Off Grid either by coming along to a workshop to make a sculpture or other artwork (date to be decided – see website newlynartgallery.co.uk) or by contributing to a work already made. Off Grid will be part of the Penzance Festival of Art map and you can follow the trail to each piece.
This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Community Renewal Fund in Cornwall.
