About this event
Phil has an insatiable curiosity for the people, animals and landscape that surround him, capturing movement in his work to create a lively picture. He paints with a brush and a knife, building up layers of paint, making marks to capture the moment, giving each piece a life of its own.
His subject matters vary immensely, driven by the inspiration he gains from the environment around him. In his studio, you will find landscapes, seascapes, dramatic paintings of fishermen at sea and pastoral scenes. Phil has exhibited his work both in London and Cornwall and currently has work in private collections in England, Ireland and Germany.
Phil paints and exhibits in his studio and spacious gallery, which is in the heart of an area of outstanding natural beauty. His small farm comprises 20 acres, which provide a home for his horses and belted Galloway cattle. Crankan Studio is located about 2 miles from Penzance and is easily accessible from there or St Ives and St Just. Visitors can also book the top rated bed and breakfast accommodation, make use of the ample parking, toilet facilities, and even book a traditional Cornish cream tea to enjoy in the garden.
Prices from £400 – £3,000, depending on the size of canvas. Commissions taken by negotiation.
