About this event
To celebrate the start of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, Penzance Library will be hosting a free event for children from ages 4-11*.
There will be 3 sessions beginning each hour at 11am, 12pm and 1pm. Each session will include a welcome from the library team, an inspirational talk and story from Annie Vernon, followed by games and activities led by Annie and Flo Holmes, from the Youth Sport Trust’s Healthy Movers program.
St John’s Hall will become a hive of activity for the day, with games and activity stations set up for everyone to enjoy. We will also have some ‘Ready, Set, Read!’ Equipment Bags available to rent out and take home so you can try out even more games and activities with your family over the summer holidays!
About Annie:
Annie Vernon is an Olympic Silver Medallist and World Championship Gold Medallist for rowing.
When Annie joined the Youth Sport Trust, she said: “I became an Athlete Mentor because I believe in the transformative power of sport – on people’s lives and their characters. I want to help students find their own ways in life and discover their inner strength, and sport will help them do that.”
*All children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event.
