About this event
Kestle Barton is pleased to host a Soundcamp for 2024. We will be contributing the sound of Kestle Barton waking up to the 24 +1 hour live radio programme that is assembled and broadcast by arts collective Soundcamp via Resonance FM in London.
Around this 24-hour stream of hundreds of dawn choruses spanning the globe on International Dawn Chorus day Dr. Bram Thomas Arnold of Falmouth University will be curating a Soundcamp in our meadow. Featuring live music from The Worm and guests (tbc), food for supper and a performance lecture on the nature of sound in a digitally altered world. The full 24-hour stream composed of hundreds of individual globally dispersed microphones will also be played in the Studio at Kestle Barton through the weekend with an interactive map highlighting who has listened to what and when…
Kestle Barton will bring its own layer of magic to this event as we rise early on Sunday 5 May in time for a deep listening event attending to the different stages of dawn as we move from astronomical, through nautical to civil twilight where the birds wake us up to the world with new ears, new eyes and a new understanding of our being on this planet, near the southern tip of Britain, rotating in a westerly direction at 668mph.
You are invited to visit the installation in the Studio free throughout the weekend (4-5 May) as part of your visit to Kestle Barton (10:30am – 5pm)
If you are interested in taking part in the full programme including the evening event (6pm start with option to sleep over) please visit our website.
