About this event
Together with the Camborne Town Deal Board, they plan to create a thriving hub of arts, education and culture that will act as an engine for enterprise and a space to strengthen community. We envision a vibrant space that nurtures exciting creative businesses; where performers and musicians can practice and perform; where artists and artisans can showcase their work; which celebrates the history and heritage of Camborne whilst laying tracks for its future.
What do you imagine for a space like this? The best ideas come from open conversations – so we invite you to lend us your creative powers to challenge, strengthen and add your thoughts to its development. You can come along in person or join the session via Zoom.
Presentation (10:00 – 10:30) (online access also available)
We’ll kick things off with a quick overview of the current ideas and buildings to give you a sense of the scope and scale of the project, and to spark ideas about what it could mean for community members, performers, artists, heritage and the wider creative sector.
Interactive Feedback (10:30 – 11:30)
Your chance to ask questions and feedback on the presentation. You’ll have the opportunity to look at the early plans and interact with 360 images and video of the space. We want to know what you would love to see in Camborne and what you would value in a brand new space for the town.
Open discussion (11:30 – 12:30)
Further group discussion, as well as a chance to voice your thoughts one-to-one with the project team.
12.30-1.30pm Break for Cake!!!
Afternoon (1.30pm-4pm) Creative Conversations
An open space to discuss, draw or photograph your ideas for creative spaces and facilities within the basset community hub. Creative Kernow will lead an informal get-together to discuss the use of theatre and rehearsal spaces.
About Camborne Town Deal
Launched in November 2019, the Government’s Town Fund Deal aims to regenerate high streets, boost businesses and improve infrastructure.
Camborne was one of four towns in Cornwall selected to participate and our board of volunteers all worked very hard to develop and submit an investment plan by January 2021. The Government approved eight of the nine projects included and an award of £23.7m in Town Deal funding was announced. Reimagining the Basset Centre and White House was one of these projects.
