About this event
Her performances and recordings have garnered an impressive series of awards, including the Gramophone Award for her groundbreaking recordings of Elizabeth Jacquet de la Guerre on the harpsichord. Recently, Cerasi’s recordings of the complete harpsichord music of Francois Couperin secured her place as one of the world’s foremost interpreters of baroque music. She is Professor of Harpsichord and Fortepiano at the Royal Academy of Music
Cerasi will be performing the music of Elizabethan and Jacobean Cornwall, taken from the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book. For many years, the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book was thought to have been collected by musician and composer Francis Tregian of Golden Manor near Tregony. Cerasi will be performing music by Tregian and Cornish composer Giles Farnaby, alongside music by Thomas Tomkins, composed for a family in Cornwall. The programme will also feature the virginals, the beautifully constructed and decorated predecessor to the harpsichord.
