About this event
Four Lanes Male Voice Choir gives a free Sunday afternoon concert in a beautiful local church.
The village of Four Lanes is in the heart of Cornwall’s former mining district where the tradition of music – whether choir or brass bands – is in people’s DNA.
The choir was formed in 1944 to welcome home troops from the Second World War and has taken home many trophies over the years – winning best Cornish and best British choir at the 2009 International Male Voice Choir Festival. At the 2011 festival, the choir took 2nd place in the British choir section and again won the award for best Cornish choir.
After 70 years, Four Lanes Male Voice choir and its conductor Tim Hosken remains committed to a love of the Cornish choral tradition. This sentiment is conveyed in the choir’s motto ‘Sing we for pleasure – for one and all’.
At Crowan they will be singing Cornish music as well as a selection from a wider repertoire.
This is part of a fundraising drive to restore the stained-glass windows at Crowan Church, the historic centre of life in the parish for more than 1,000 years.
