About this event
Sophie works from her home studio which is a stone’s throw from the beautiful Helford River. Within a short walk are Grebe and Durgan beaches, the Ferryboat Inn and Trebah and Glendurgan Gardens. The last 2 years have been spent building her own art studio at home, and it is now finally up and running she spends as much time as possible in the studio and out and about painting on the beaches.
Her passion is painting the Cornish coast in oils, capturing the different moods of the coastal scenery and every changing light. The Cornish weather patterns can be unpredictable creating dramatic skies and clouds with the most amazing array of colours.
Having recently adopted a rescue dog, she is a daily visitor to the local beaches to witness many uplifting sunrises that lift your spirits. Her goal is to capture the soul and spirit of these special places, and the emotional connection they form.
Sophie also creates art panels in fused glass, using the medium to evoke the light and water.
Visit Sophie in her studio all through Open Studio, to view her work, many of which are available to buy, both framed and unframed. Sophie is also open to discuss private commissions on request.
